Beyond meeting the functional specification, the project also addressed stringent environmental (IP and EMC), safety (EN62368), and regulatory requirements. Often used in defence applications, VMEbus is a tried & tested, rugged computing platform which dates back to the ‘80s, and has since undergone a number of enhancements including “Extensions” to provide additional features in response to increasing user demands.
