19” (IEC60297-3) as an industrial standard is here to stay and remains one of the most popular form factors for housing electronics.

Suited to the human form, it offers easy access to components within and provides a large front and back panel space for the mounting of connectors, fans, switches, indicators & screens. Verotec boast a large range of standard 19” case options, but almost all will need to be modified in some way to serve a particular application.

Our EMC & IP rated Veroshield product was recently selected to house a scientific instrument for a UK research company, and fully customised (in-house) to meet their specific requirements.

Recent Project – Rackmount VME Chassis

Although over 40 years old, VME continues to be used today in applications that require a rugged and fail-safe industrial computing platform that’s tried and tested.

Verotec have recently designed and manufactured a suite of 1U (2 slot) and 2U (4 slot), 19” rack-mounting VMEbus systems for use in nuclear power stations. Adopting the Eurocard mechanical standard meant pluggable power supplies and filtered fan trays could be easily incorporated to meet the high-availability requirements of the system.

Optimised cooling schemes play an important role in many electronic applications.

Having been selected from a number of providers, Verotec has recently designed and manufactured a custom version of its intelligent fan tray product, for use in the medical industry; specifically a Cardiac Ablation Catheter machine.

The 1U, 19”, DC powered units feature easily removable fans, speed control via PWM and fan fail functionality.

Recent Project – Custom V12 VME64 Chassis

Verotec, through its US operation in Connecticut, have supplied General Dynamics Electric Boat with a further 4 customised V12 VME64 systems to compliment a number of units already delivered.

The 12U, 19” rack-mounting chassis’ can house up to 21 x 6U VME64 Extensions boards in a secure & EMC compliant environment and deliver in excess of 1KW of power.

Optimised cooling is provided via 2 independent, filtered fan trays.

Verotec design and manufacture a wide range of fan tray products, offering customers a choice of size, input power, filtration, monitoring and control functionality, thus suiting a variety of applications.

In a recent example, a customer in the fire safety industry required 300+ 1U rack-mounting, 48V DC fantrays for an off-shore oil & gas project. The specification was able to be met with a standard, catalogued product, meaning no design & engineering costs and a short leadtime; a cost effective cooling solution!

Recent Project – Computer Chassis Prototype

Verotec have designed and supplied a prototype industrial computer chassis for a leading manufacturer of commercial flight simulators.

The unit is based on the CompactPCI formfactor, housing a power supply, bespoke backplane and providing 8 x 3U/160mm Eurocard slots for the CPU & peripheral boards.

A 6-fan tray above provides forced air cooling and monitoring functionality via an internal alarm board.

First Aid Course

Being able to administer first aid is a fantastic skill to have. Here at Verotec we encouraged our employees to participate in a first aid course to help them be ready should they ever be faced with a medical emergency, in the workplace or elsewhere.

A total of 9 employees recently participated and passed their level 3 emergency first aid course. Well done team!

Recent Project – VMEbus Test Rig

Verotec stock a wide range of electronic enclosures and system components, meaning we’re often able to supply product to our customers quickly.

This month, a UK defence contractor needed 2 x VME bus systems, fully wired with power supplies, backplane and cooling in 10 days to meet an urgent deadline.

Using our standard Diplomat case, KM6 subrack, iCool fan tray, backplanes and power supplies, we were able to ship the units in less time. If you have an urgent requirement, please get in touch with a member of our team.
